A few days before the party's National Delegates Conference, Charles Bissue, a mainstay of the New Patriotic Party, withdrew from the campaign for general secretary.
Mr. Bissue declared in a statement that he was still prepared to support his party. Despite withdrawing from the race, he said, "I am ready to share the information, ideas, and instruments I had meant to utilize in rebuilding the Party into prominence and sustainable political power with whoever gets chosen as the General Secretary, and the Party in general." "As a patriot, I will continue to serve in any capacity, and I will always work to further the interests of the party," he continued.
IMF staff departs from Ghana
To Ghanaians, Akufo-Addo must apologise.
Charles Bissue, a former Western regional secretary of the New Patriotic Party, claims that the government does not need to apologize to Ghanaians for changing its mind about seeking assistance from the IMF.
According to him, the COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war have not only had an impact on Ghana but on the entire world economy, which was not the case during the previous Mahama government.
"No, I don't believe so [the government should apologize]," he stated on TV3.
The circumstances are distinct, he claims. A credit crunch that shook the entire world during Kufuor's presidency was a first for the NDC. A tiny locality had an epidemic at one time, which resulted in the deaths of 205 individuals. As a result, if you were to travel back in time and claim that there was a pandemic at the time, the situation couldn't have been handled successfully.

At the meanwhile, Gordon Edudzi Tamaklo, a private attorney and NDC member, said in a previous meeting that the government has to apologise to Ghanaians for mismanaging the economy.
"I was expecting the NPP director to appear before the Ghanaian people and humbly apologize for the rampant lying, braggadocio, carelessness, and corruption that have come to characterize the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/Ken Ofori-Atta regime.
"Unfortunately, they have opted to indulge in grandstanding and that is the reason why we are where we are today. Instead of apologizing for their appalling performance as a government that today has brought all of us to our knees.
During the week of July 6–13, 2022, a team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) visited Accra to analyze the country's economic status and talk about the general framework of the government's Enhanced Domestic Program that may be financed by an IMF credit arrangement.
