How Isaac Boateng was attacked by a Chinese employer
Isaac Boateng, a Ghanaian machine operator, was stabbed in the throat at Kweikuma in the Sekondi-Takoradi Municipality by his Chinese employer.
The Chinese national is a senior employee of a company hired to build structures next to the apartments of the Ghana Navy flats, according to a report by 3news.com seen by GhanaWeb.
According to a witness testimony, the event took place when company employees were protesting not being paid their wages.
We attended a meeting and questioned our Chinese employer why we hadn't received our pay because we have families and are also owed money by other people. One of our colleagues went to the Chinese boss to find out what was wrong with the salaries.
Boat, a Ghanaian worker for the company, claimed that the Chinese boss used a flick knife to slash our colleague's throat during an argument. "He has suffered deep wounds, and blood traces could be seen everywhere. He has been rushed to the Effiankwanta Hospital, and we pray he will survive," Boat claimed.
He revealed that over 80 local workers were staging a demonstration to demand their GH18 daily cumulative wage.
We are in pain and demand justice for our brother. We are about eighty workers here, and they pay each of us GH18 a day for the laborious construction work we are doing here. "Some military [officers] intervened and calm was later restored but the foreigner who committed the crime is still walking around," he continued.
Strong state security is rumored to have taken over the company's operations in the interim, and the business has subsequently started paying the unpaid salaries.
According to reports, the victim, Isaac Boateng, stated that "The Police have collected my statement and I'm currently undergoing treatment."
