It was a moment of national pride for Ghana when one of its own, Livingstone Satekla, commonly known as Stonebwoy, took the stage at the 2022 GUBA awards to perform some of his songs.
Back to back, the dancehall artist performed a lovely medley, much to the delight of the audience, beginning with his big song 'Le Gba Gbe' and continuing with 'Activate,' 'Sobolo,' and 'Go higher' among others. Stonebwoy concluded his performance with a simple message of peace, love, and African togetherness.
"Big ups to my African brothers and sisters. We are all one people, from business owners to the man who cleans the gutters. I went from zero to hero, and I am aware that this room is filled with outstanding and powerful individuals. Let's continue preaching the African tale of one love, one life, and one peace, he urged.
Stonebwoy was described as a revolutionary musician renowned for his reggae, dancehall, afrobeat, and highlife music. He was also acclaimed for his four studio albums and numerous honors and nominations, including Grammy and BET nominations.
The 2022 GUBA Awards were held in Kigali, Rwanda, on September 29. The topic of this year's GBA Awards, "Ndabaga — Drumbeat of Dreamers and Legends," was intended to honor a historical figure within the Rwandan and African communities. The GUBA Awards continue to receive support from prominent figures such as H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo (President of Ghana), H.E. Jean-Claude Kassi Brou (President of the ECOWAS Commission), and others. The awards are intended to recognize the most inspiring and innovative individuals in Africa and its diaspora community.
