WhatsApp is back with another highly anticipated and interesting feature for its users. The instant messaging platform is testing a feature that prevents users from taking screenshots or recording media sent in a single view. Some beta testers will observe the function, according to WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp watchdog recognized for keeping an eye on the newest updates in WhatsApp betas and its latest releases. Similar to Instagram and Snapchat, WhatsApp released a "View Once" feature that enables any image to be delivered to a recipient and then disappear after it has been viewed. Unlike WhatsApp, though, these apps alert senders when a recipient takes a screenshot of their media.
Developing the platform's privacy features, WhatsApp plans to "prevent" users from capturing media sent in one view. Some iPhone users running WhatsApp beta 22.21.0.71 (build 405622068) may no longer be able to take screenshots of anything transmitted with the "View Once" option, according to the newest release available on TestFlight. If a user attempts to capture a screenshot, WhatsApp will display a notification that reads "banned for added privacy." The new privacy setting cannot be turned off.
