Thousands of people marched on the main streets of Tamale on Saturday to seek a new constitution for the country.

The demonstrators said that the 1992 Constitution had outlived its purpose and needed to be replaced with a new constitution.

This, they say, will safeguard Ghana's three-decade-old democracy. The #FixTheCountry Movement and numerous other young advocacy organizations, including Activista Ghana, organized the event. Demonstrators brandished placards that read, among other things, "Let's Write a Constitution that Empowers Everyone," "We Deserve Better Than This," "Zalkpan pala punpo," or "A New Constitution Now.".

Protesters gathered at Tamale Jubilee Park and marched along Police Headquarters Street, PWD Road, and Warders Canteen. They then proceeded to Tishegu's PK Gombilla Street and joined the Tamale-Bolgatanga major highway before turning towards Choggu roundabout to Water Works, Aboabo through the Central Business District, and returning to Jubilee Park, where they addressed the crowd. Osagyefo Oliver Baker-Vormawor, the Lead Convenor of the #FixTheCountry Movement, who addressed the demonstrators, stated that while it was too late for today's young to witness the vision of a changed Ghana, it was important to join the struggle so that the future generation may live to see that vision.

“No matter what we do, we’re not going to see the vision Ghana of a different Ghana. It is too late for us. the fight that we are fighting was the fight that our fathers were supposed to have fought for us. For you and I, this is it, we’re going to live a life of poverty… but I tell you what, our children will not live in same Ghana.” he said. He said they were going to continue to fight to ensure Ghana’s next generation lived a dignified life.
