According to Despite Media's Jacob Kubi, the event began about 9 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023, when a gun-wielding gang stormed a Beinab Filling station in the region.
"According to the attendants, the robbers alighted from a trotro and four of them mounted a barrier in the roadway from Kasoa to Winneba and the Winneba to Kasoa stretch. Drivers mistook two of them for security agents and stopped the cars, robbing the passengers of their goods since they were dressed like military men.
"The remaining two walked to the filling station and ordered everyone to lie down under the fire of random gunshots. They stole the filing station, and on their way back, the individual holding their haul attempted to halt an incoming Range Rover. "The driver of the automobile, thinking they were armed robbers, knocked him down," the reporter claimed. He described how the group pulled their injured member to the side of the road, emptying his pockets before fleeing and leaving him behind.
A police squad dispatched to the site transported the injured armed robber to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
