Constance Marten, the missing aristocrat, and her partner Mark Gordon have been arrested again on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and remain in custody, according to police. An urgent search is underway to locate their baby, who has not received medical attention since his birth in early January. When asked if the couple is "cooperating" and providing more information about the newborn, Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford stated that there is still "no information" on the baby's gender. "We feel the risk is becoming so great that we now have to consider the possibility that the baby has now come to harm," he added. When asked if someone had been caring for the baby on the couple's behalf, the detectives say they must keep an open mind, which is why they offered a £10,000 reward, which is still available. According to police, the couple had a large amount of cash on them. Sussex Police officers located the pair in Stanmer Villas, Brighton, on Monday night after a member of the public reported seeing them shortly before 9.30 p.m. Sussex Police officers responded to the scene and arrested the couple on suspicion of child neglect. Sussex Police Chief Superintendent James Collis said on Tuesday afternoon that people in the area should expect a "increased police presence" in the coming days, adding that while this may cause inconvenience to residents, it is necessary for the search to continue. Constance Marten's father Napier Marten has told The Independent of his "immense relief" that she has been found, adding this was "tempered by the very alarming news her baby has yet to be found". He expressed his "profound gratitude" to the police for devoting "significant resources" to the search for his daughter. "When the time comes, I hope to see Constance and reassure her that, whatever the weather, I love her and will support her as best I can through the difficult weeks and months ahead," he added. A large police presence is still present at the location where the missing couple was apprehended. Two uniformed officers were seen guarding the entrance to Golf Drive from Stanmer Villas, while teams searched bushes in the nearby woodland with sticks. A number of marked police vans from both the Met and Sussex Police were parked by allotments at the other end of Golf Drive, where more officers appeared to be searching the area. Marten, 35, and Gordon, 48, have been taking taxis around the UK since their car caught fire on the M61 in Bolton, Greater Manchester, on January 5. Previously, authorities believed the couple had been sleeping rough in a blue tent and had avoided being tracked down by police by moving around frequently and hiding their faces in CCTV images. The couple traveled from Bolton to Liverpool, then to Harwich in Essex, east London, and finally to Newhaven in Sussex, where they were spotted near the ferry terminal on January 8. Marten, who comes from a wealthy aristocratic family, was a promising drama student when she met Gordon for the first time in 2016. Since then, the couple has lived in isolation, and in September, when Marten was well into her pregnancy, she began moving around rental apartments. Gordon was sentenced to 20 years in prison in the United States for rape and battery when he was 14 years old. It is unknown if their baby was born full-term or if he or she has any health issues.
