The Pulkovo Airport briefly closed before reopening after a drone-like object was spotted in the area, according to the city's official Telegram channel. Flights had resumed and the temporary airspace ban had been lifted by 12 p.m. local time, according to officials (9am UK time). Several Russian news outlets reported that fighter jets had been dispatched to investigate the matter, but they later stated that the jets found nothing, according to Reuters. The Russian government made no official statement regarding the reason for the suspension or the alleged investigation of the unidentified object. Following the resumption of flights, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated in a press conference that President Vladimir Putin was informed of the situation.
