The Electoral Commission (EC) has stated that Parliament's invitation to the Commission's Chairperson, Jean Mensa, to brief the House on the proposed Constitutional Instrument (CI) that seeks to make the Ghana Card the sole identification document for voter registration arrived a day before the meeting's scheduled date. Mrs Jean Mensa had left the jurisdiction when the Commission received the invitation letter, according to the EC.The Minority rejected officials from the European Commission (EC) and the National Identification Agency (NIA) who were in Parliament to brief the House on the proposed CI on Thursday, February 23They were hoping to see Madam Jean Mensa herself.They have raised concerns about the proposed CI.Mrs Jean Mensa, the Member of Parliament for South Dayi, was also accused of disrespecting Parliament's work.Yesterday, the EC gave a thousand and one reasons why Jean Mensa couldn't be in Parliament to answer questions about her excessive desire for a new CI.The Minority maintained its position: no Jean Mensa, no meeting.
