Ghanaian actors John Dumelo and Fred Nuamah would want to serve as legislators for their constituents after working in the entertainment industry for a lot of years. The two would want to speak up for their people and look for improvements to their quality of life. John and Fred are good friends; in fact, Fred served as John's best man at his 2019 wedding. Despite the fact that they will be running for the same office, the same party, and the same constituency (Ayawaso West Wuogon), they are not related.
John Dumelo has participated in the competition before. He ran for the constituency seat in the 2020 elections on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) platform, but Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) defeated him in the general election. Out of a total of 77,604 votes cast, Lydia Seyram Alhassan received 39,851 while John Dumelo of the NDC received 37,778. 108 votes went to the independent candidate.
John was observed vigorously campaigning on numerous fronts to obtain the position, demonstrating his active involvement in party politics. In the same district, actor and businessman Fred Nuamah is making his debut. Many people were curious as to what had become of John Dumelo's political aspirations for the region when he declared his plan to contest in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency's NDC parliamentary primary.
There were several rumors that he will run for office in a new Oti Region constituency. He has announced that he is competing for the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat a second time, to to the dismay of several. The second coming is what he refers to. Whether other actors will compete with John and Fred is uncertain, but having the two actors jostle for the part is good for the creative arts industry. It has been stated that increasing the number of creatives in parliament will tremendously benefit the sector because they will have a voice in the policies that will change it. John Dumelo has devoted a lot of his time to farming and philanthropy in addition to performing. Agriculture, in his opinion, is one of the most reliable ways to generate jobs.
Two actors are "engaged in a fight" over a parliamentary seat in Nuamah vs. Dumelo.
Fred Nuamah, also a business man, is widely recognized to be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Movie Awards, a scheme that rewards sterling achievements in the film production sector in Ghana.
On May 13, 2023, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will hold its presidential and parliamentary primaries. The world will be watching to see how they perform.
