Donald Trump's YouTube channel has been reopened after a two-year suspension.

A two-year suspension following the Capitol riot, YouTube has restored former President Donald Trump's channel. 'Starting today, the Donald J. Trump channel is no longer restricted and can upload new content,' YouTube announced on Friday. 'We carefully assessed the continued risk of real-world violence while balancing voters' ability to hear from major national candidates equally in the run-up to an election.' Trump's account "will continue to be subject to our policies, just like any other channel on YouTube," according to the company. It comes after Twitter and Facebook’s parent company Meta reinstated Trump’s respective accounts. Trump has not yet resumed posting on the platforms. YouTube suspended Trump's channel a few days after the January 6 insurgency, citing violations of its policies prohibiting the sharing of content that incites violence. After a month, YouTube stated that restrictions on Trump uploading content would be lifted once the "risk of violence" had decreased.
