Mohammed Baakoe, a member of the Mfantsipim Old Boys 1989-Year-Group, has donated laptops worth approximately GH250,000 to Mfantsipim School in collaboration with his company, DRW, based in Canada, for the development of the school's ICT infrastructure as well as that of the National Maths and Science Quiz team.
Mr. Baakoe made the presentation to Captain Paul Forjoe, Ebusuapanyin of the Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA), at the MOBA Secretariat in Accra in February.Mr. Baakoe's presentation emphasized the importance of information and communication technology to the development of youth.He stated that as someone who had benefited greatly from the training in Information and Communication Technology, he thought it was appropriate that all students, particularly those in High School, receive practical training in ICT with the necessary equipment, such as the laptops donated.
The IT Lead at DRW stated that his company recognizes the importance of such support to educational institutions and is ready to continue working with Mfantsipim once the school recognizes the benefits of the equipment.Captain Paul Forjoe thanked Mr. Baakoe and DRW for their donation and expressed hope that the laptops would help the school's e-learning initiative.Several members of the MOBA 1989-Year-Group, including Kodwo Morgan and Yaw Subri of the MOBA Secretariat, were on hand to help Mr Baakoe donate the laptops.
Mr. Baakoe, who is from Cape Coast, found time to volunteer at the school's e-learning facility, which is managed by another Old Boy, Seth Ahene, after orchestrating the presentation of the laptops to the school.
