For Argentina's 2022 World Cup-winning team, Lionel Messi purchased gold iPhones for each member of the team and the coaching staff.
According to reports, the Paris Saint-Germain player spent close to £175,000 to purchase the team's customized gold iPhones.
In order to honor his teammates and the coaching staff for their heroics in Qatar last year, Messi partnered with IDESIGN GOLD.The iPhones are customized with each player's name and jersey number and are 24-carat gold-plated.
After his team won the World Cup, Messi reportedly urged iDesign Gold CEO Ben Lyons to give his teammates a special gift. In addition to being the Goat, Lionel is one of IDESIGN GOLD's most devoted clients and contacted us a few months after the World Cup final, he told The Sun. He claimed he didn't want the customary watch gift and instead wanted something special for all the players and staff to celebrate the incredible victory. He embraced the idea when I suggested giving them gold iPhones with their names engraved on them.
Messi helped his nation win the Qatar 2022 World Cup in December, solidifying his place in football history. Argentina upset France on penalties in the championship game, and the 35-year-old scored twice as his team won the prized title.
Messi won the majority of the votes at the Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony on Monday, making him the greatest male player of the year as well.
He defeated teammates Kylian Mbappe of PSG and Karim Benzema of Real Madrid, who received 44 and 34 votes, respectively, with his total of 52 votes.
