After the Single Spine Pay System for public sector employees saw a 30% raise, teachers and staff at the Ghana Education Service have seen a boost in their basic salary.
This raise went into effect on January 1, 2023, and it also includes a 15 percent market premium for all teachers and other public sector employees, which the government has also approved.
Since the government boosted the basic salary by 20% in 2010 and by the same amount again in 2011, the 30 percent increase is the largest increase that organized labor has obtained through talks with the government.
Since the present administration took office in 2017, the greatest raise was secured in 2017, at a rate of 12 percent.
