A commercial vehicle (Trotro) driver and his companion have made surprising news in the historic city of Kumasi by returning GHC 200,000 to its rightful owner. Felix Boakye and Opoku Asamoah Emmanuel, the team, claim that on Tuesday while they were still at work, they discovered the cash wrapped in a black polythene bag by the side of the road. The two kept the money in their car all day after realizing the bag contained cash until they came to a crossroads in the evening and had to decide what to do with it.
The two ultimately decided to give the money to a church member who is also a police officer that Opoku Emmanuel was very familiar with and trusted. He was notified by the policeman, who also happens to be friends with the general manager of Hello FM in Kumasi.
The owner was unaware of a subsequent announcement that was made on Kumasi-based Hello FM. Yet miraculously, someone suggested Hello FM to the station's owner so that it may air a message. The owner, whose identity has been withheld, claims that when making the announcement at the station, he accidentally learned that the money was there. Samson K. Nyamekye, the general manager, disclosed that after extensive research including both himself and the policeman, they had come to the conclusion that the money did indeed belong to the person who had reported his misplaced money.
The man later admitted on the prqogram that his supervisor had sent him to give the money to a brother.
He claimed that he threw the cash out the window of the car he was in to his brother, who was standing by the side of the road. He also said that his brother saw him throw the cash outside the car.
