The assault on two game rangers from the Kyebi Forestry Division has been the subject of an investigation by police in the Eastern Region.
On Tuesday, employees from the Timber Industry Development Division (TIDD), which is a division of the Forestry Commission, are alleged to have assaulted the two managers, Yaw Sakyi and Ivy Amoakoa Agyemang. They were assigned to the Anyinam and Kwabeng sections of the Atewa forest reserve.
After requesting a permit from illegal lumberers accompanied by TIDD men, range managers on their way to stop illegal lumbering in the Abakoase community were severely beaten.
