So far, the Tarkwa Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the Tarkwa gold robbery on Tuesday, April 18, 2023: a Togolese, a Nigerian, and a Ghanaian. The suspects are Togolese Samuel Amaeshi, 47, Nigerian Ezekiel Stephen, 45, and Ghanaian Fataw Awudu, 42. These three suspects were among six armed robbers who entered the KK Gold buying agency while wearing face masks and helmets and subjected victims to severe assaults at gunpoint.

They rode away on three motorcycles with 408.5 grams of gold valued 613,000 Ghana cedis (GHC613,000.00) and an undetermined amount of money. The police obtained intelligence that the robbers used the Tarkwa Banso, Esuso Bonsawire road, so communities in this enclave were notified. On Tuesday evening, the Police Intelligence Department and Police Patrol detained two individuals, Samuel Amaeshi and Ezekiel Stephen, with the help of members of the community.

A sack containing three hundred and ninety-seven thousand, one hundred and ninety cedis (GHC397,190) in cash and 4.7 grams of gold. Fataw Awudu was also arrested by the Police Intelligence Department on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, based on intelligence. All three suspects are currently in police custody, while the police are still looking for the other suspects.
