Ola Michaels, a reporter for Neat FM, recently detailed a frightening event in Ayeduase, Kumasi, in which two suspected gay males were attacked and beaten severely. The attackers are thought to be residents of the nearby Glory be to God hostel. According to Michaels, the incident began when the alleged homosexuals went to acquire fried eggs and drinks at a nearby establishment where some hostel boys were also present. The guys allegedly challenged the men and accused them of acting like women, resulting in a violent incident in which the victims were severely beaten and placed in a gutter. According to Michaels, the attackers beat the men for a long time and even stoned them while they were still in the gutter. This disturbing incident is the latest development in Ghana's continuous efforts to curtail LGBTQI+ activity in the country. As the country's Parliament debates a bill to criminalize such activities, incidents like this serve as a stark reminder of the discrimination and violence that members of the LGBTQI+ community in Ghana continue to face.
