The Amasaman Police Department detained Emmanuel Attoh, a middle-aged man, for reportedly keeping his wife, Cecilia Attih, and four of his children home for two years. According to Jennifer, a freelance reporter, some journalists learned that the suspect had kept his wife and four children within for the past two years, denying them access to sunshine and nighttime. She told Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm's Frontline that the suspect, his wife, and his children resided in a bushy house, but after realizing the problem had spread, he had the weeds removed. She further stated that the wife and children were rescued by the Social Welfare Department, while the husband is being held by police, who are supporting them with their investigation.

The woman was also discovered to be unwell, and she was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Interaction with the children was tough because the first daughter refused to engage with the media, whilst the last child was eager to speak but was interrupted by her sister. She also complained that the disorganized kitchen caused an unpleasant odor in the residence. Meanwhile, when reached, a cousin of the woman indicated that the problem was marital in nature, making intervention difficult. According to her, she only went to meet the woman when it was absolutely essential. She revealed that the woman was depressed and was being treated at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, but she refused to go.

She told the host that her husband kept her away from the family and that when she visited while he was home, he wouldn’t let her see the woman. She was required to report the incident to the Social Welfare Department, after which the suspect was arrested.
