Nigerian Afrobeat sensation Ayodeji Balogun also known as Wizkid has lost his mother. Wizkid's mum, Mrs Jane Dolapo Balogun, passed away on Friday at around 1:30am. Confirming the sad news, Sunday Are, Wizkid's longtime manager said Mrs Balogun passed away in the early hours of Friday. The cause of her death was however not disclosed to the press.
"Yes, she died this early hours, at about 1.30 am," Sunday Are said. The late Mrs. Balogun survived by two other children, Yetunde Balogun and Lade Balogun. This devastating news comes months after the Mrs Balogun, who appeared hale and hearty, was present at an event where veteran fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (KWAM1) was performing. Her death has led to an outpouring of sympathy and support from fans, fellow artiste, and well-wishers in the music industry.
Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) record label said he approached Mrs Balogun at the airport. He also said that he assisted her by carrying her bag, adding that his act of kindness made people around the airport “know she is Mrs Balogun”.
