Volta Region (or Volta) is one of sixteen administrative regions in Ghana, with Ho as its headquarters. It is situated west of the Republic of Togo and east of Lake Volta. The territory is multi-ethnic and linguistic, divided into 25 administrative districts, and includes groups like as the Ewe, Guan, and Akan peoples. The Lolobi, Likpe, Akpafu, Buem, and Nkonya (now part of the Oti area) are among the Guan peoples. The New Patriotic Party formed this region out of the Volta Region in December 2018.

According to statistics from the Volta regional division of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), the area registered 193 occurrences of road collisions between January and June 2022. Between January and June, 318 automobiles were engaged in traffic accidents, with 48 people killed.
133 people were injured in varying degrees throughout the same time period.
It was also stated that 46 pedestrians were killed. A comparison with data from January to June 2021 reveals an overall decrease in all instances. From 247 in 2021 to 193 in 2022, the number of crashes decreased by 21.9 percent. In addition, the number of cars engaged in collisions decreased by 24.8 percent, from 423 in 2021 to 318 in 2022. There is a 25% drop in fatalities from 64 in 2021 to 48 in 2022; a 50% reduction in injuries from 268 in 2021 to 133 in 2022; and a 13.2% reduction of pedestrians hit.
Monthly data in the region reveal that the region reported the most incidents of collisions from January to June 2022, with 41 occurrences in March, 37 cases in April, and 33 cases in June.
With 24 road collisions in February, it was the month with the fewest incidents.
When compared to the statistics from January to June 2021, all months in 2022 except June indicate a decrease in accidents. February saw the greatest fall in instances, dropping by 46 percent from 45 in 2021 to 24 in 2022, with June being the only month to have an increase in collisions, up from 28 in 2021 to 33 in 2022.

A total of 48 lives were lost in the first half of 2022, with March having the most deaths (16), February recording 10, and May recording the fewest with three fatalities.
In the divisional distribution of road traffic case scenarios in the region, the Ho Division had the most instances with 112 incidents, 187 cars engaged in the crashes, 18 people died, 58 people injured, and 18 pedestrians knocked down.
Tongu Division had the same amount of fatalities as Ho Division, with 18 people killed.
The Hohoe, Kpando, and Ketu divisions each recorded 7 instances in the first half of the year, which is the lowest number.
In the first half of the year, there were no fatalities in the Hohoe division.
Ho division again had the most collisions, accounting for 58 percent of all crashes in the region, while Hohoe, Kpando, and Ketu divisions each had seven, accounting for 3.6 percent of the incidents in the region.
Ho division saw a 15% decline in collisions from 132 in 2021 to 112 in 2022, while Keta division saw an 11% fall in crashes from 35 in 2021 to 31 in 2022. The Ketu Division saw a 65% decline in crashes from 20 in 2021 to 7 in 2022, while the Hohoe Division saw a 75% increase from 4 in 2021 to 7 in 2022. The Kpando division likewise had a 40% rise in crashes, from 5 in 2021 to 7 in 2022.
