Once more, starting on Monday, August 8, regional offices will focus on updating personal information, including name changes or corrections.
These services will also be subject to a fee of GH30 at any CAL Bank branch or by calling the short code *771#, and they will be performed going forward when an electronic form has been filled out.
The Authority stated in a statement released by Acting Head of Corporate Affairs Dr. Abudu Abdul-Ganiyu that "all applicants for the update service will be asked to justify the reason for the update and must back the request with documentation."
Services like changing or correcting your residential, postal, or digital address, your marital status, your occupation, your degree of education, and others that don't involve printing a new card will be provided without charge.
The NIA statement also disclosed that, starting on Monday, September 12, updates to personal information would be decentralized to the 275 district offices.
It advised applicants to keep in mind that not all requests for an update or replacement would be answered the same day they are submitted.
Request reviews could take more than a day to complete. The statutory fee will only need to be paid by applicants AFTER their petitions are approved, NOT PRIOR to that.
According to NIA, these actions have been taken in accordance with its operational strategy for continuous registration and the provision of identity management services across the nation, as well as the Minister of Communications and Digitalization's decision to extend the deadline for SIM card re-registration.
