The Vice President used himself as an example of a Muslim boy who was a member of the Methodist Boys Brigade when he stressed the importance of religious diversity during his speech at the EP Church's 125th anniversary celebration last week.
A video of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's first-grade classmates has surfaced on social media, attesting to his participation in the Methodist Boys Brigade when he was a little boy attending Sakasaka Primary School in Tamale.
Dr. Bawumia made the shocking admission that he joined the Methodist Church's social club, the Boys Brigade, when he was a young Muslim in primary school last week while arguing for religious tolerance and diversity in the nation while speaking as a guest of the EP Church on its 125th anniversary.
A portion of the club reacted skeptically to his revelation, claiming the Vice President was only making a statement because it was politically expedient.
However, Kwesi Ankamah and Raja Ishwar, two of his classmates from elementary school at Sakasaka Primary School and fellow Boys Brigade members at the time, have posted recordings that have gone viral confirming that Dr. Bawumia was in fact a Tamale Boys Brigade member.
In response to Dr. Bawumia's claim that he once belonged to the Methodist Church's boys' social club, a section of the public, primarily NDC supporters, called him a liar.
But after a viral video by two of his elementary school classmates, who supported the Vice President's claim, Dr. Bawumia has been vindicated.
