Thirty-two people completed a week-long course in Sports Management and Administration at the National Sports College-Winneba.
The focus of the Advanced certificate course was "Moving Sports to the Next Level Through Human Resource Development."
Alhaji Sani Mohammed Adams, Director for Policy Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate (PBMED) at the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS), closed the program by commending the participants for choosing the proper road for developing their competences. He stated that the MOYS is doing all necessary to reform the NSC from its current situation.
Alhaji Sani praised the NSC for sticking to its basic objective.
He also stated that sports have evolved from a recreational activity to a serious business, and that the Ministry is thinking globally. He also stated that the MOYS is working hard to guarantee that experienced individuals are trained to manage the sports industry. Mr. Noah Bukari, Ag. Director for the NSC, thanked the MOYS for their ongoing support of the NSC's programs. He assured that the NSC will continue to invest in training to ensure that the industry has competent human resources. He encouraged attendees to use their newfound knowledge to effect change in the sports industry. Dr. Austin Luguterrah, Head of Department, Physical Education, and Sports Studies at the University of Ghana, and Dr. Daniel Apaak, Senior Lecturer, Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at the University of Cape Coast, were the course instructors. Participants were given lectures on themes such as sports management, sports marketing and sponsorship, and contemporary sports leadership, among others.
