According to the University of Indonesia (UI) GreenMetric World University Rankings for 2022, the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) is the most sustainable university in Ghana and the 986th most sustainable university in the world.
The ranking is divided into six categories, each with its own set of weighted indicators: environment and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation, and education.
An online questionnaire is used to collect data for the UI GreenMetric. Following the completion of some questionnaires by all participants over a specified time period, UI GreenMetric expert members and reviewers validate the answers based on the evidence provided by the participants. The University of Indonesia launched the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings in 2010 as a non-profit project. It is published each year to demonstrate universities' commitment to and efforts in support of global sustainability. It focuses on the current state of green campuses and sustainability policies in universities around the world.
It has become increasingly recognized as the first and only university sustainability ranking since its inception, and participating universities have used it to benchmark and improve their sustainability efforts. The GreenMetric at the University of Indonesia is based on reputable ranking systems such as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE), the QS World University Rankings, the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), and the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities (Webometrics).
