A young man has described how he earns money by giving spermatozoa. In a yet-to-air TV3 report, Curtis Jackson (not his real name) stated that the notion of donating his sperm was originally pitched to him by some university buddies.
"I had a number of undergraduate buddies who I was curious about how they acquired their money because they always looked well and okay. "So they introduced me," he said in excerpts from the report.
To that end, Jackson revealed that donating sperm earns him up to GH2,500 each week.
"Well, I donate once a week, so let's say GHC2,500... "I think sperm donation is genuine as hell as long as we have surrogate mothers," he said.
Aside from the monetary rewards of donating sperm, Jackson believes that donating his sperm will benefit society in addition to God's command to humans to populate the globe.
"Well, I guess I'm performing God's work since he said we should populate the globe," he explained.
To prove that not all heroes wear capes, Jackson expressed his conviction that donating sperm to assist others conceive is a noble deed.
"That's what heroes do; they always put others' needs ahead of their own," he explained. Fertility clinics have recently emerged as a prominent field of health care in Ghana. This has resulted in individuals earning money by giving sperm or eggs to assist couples or individuals who are having difficulty conceiving. The news of Jackson's exploits as a sperm donor elicited a variety of comments on social media. Donating sperm creates religious and moral concerns for some, while others believe it is a decent way to make money while also helping society.
