The country's young people have been advised by entrepreneur and founder of Kings Innovation Nana Owusu-Achaw to learn French in order to interact successfully under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

He claimed that if young people made an intentional effort to acquire French in order to compete in the trading world, they would get the most out of the AfCFTA. The 74th Annual New Year School and Conference, hosted by the School of Continuing and Distance Education, College of Education, University of Ghana, was held in Accra on Thursday, and Mr. Owusu-Achaw provided the advise.

"Positioning the African Market for Sustainable Economic Development Through AfCFTA" is the conference's theme.

Selected secondary and tertiary schools participated in the "Youth School" session to learn about the AfCFTA and contribute to the national conversation. He counseled the students to utilize their time wisely and look for material that will enhance their professional paths. He advised people to stop slandering each other and instead focus on commercial prospects and the AfCFTA, which is the continent's economic engine.

He advised young people to use their creativity and try their hand at entrepreneurship in order to become independent, noting that the agricultural industry offers a lot of prospects. He urged young people to take advantage of the opportunities provided by trade with African nations since they would be the ones to change the socioeconomic development of the continent in the future.

According to research, the AfCFTA will enable young people to create 450 million jobs in Africa, which will contribute more than 60% of the continent's GDP. Nearly 1.3 billion people in Africa, especially women and youth, are anticipated to benefit from the creation of a single market for goods and services under the AfCFTA. The National AfCFTA Coordinator Office's Dr. Fareed K. Arthur urged the young to benefit from AfCFTA by being creative and developing software applications for online trading.

According to him, Ghana, which is hosting the AfCFTA Secretariat, is positioned to become the economic hub of Africa and is committed to take advantage of the prospects presented by the single trade initiative for commerce and investment. The goal of the youth school, according to Mr. Andrews Dotsey, director of the 74th Annual News Year School and Conference, is to provide a platform for maximizing the potential of young people by motivating them to make a difference in societal concerns.

Bright Tetteh, a second-year student at Presbyterian Senior High School in Legon, claimed to have studied how to start a business from scratch in order to better his financial situation. At Accra Girls Senior High School, Ms. Theodora Fantevi, a third-year student, remarked, "I have acquired entrepreneurship skills and how to preserve my intellectual property."

The Conference has been the university's flagship program since it began in 1948 and draws participants from all areas of life to discuss current events of interest on a local, national, and worldwide scale. The recommendations influence the nation's policy choices and advancements.
