This metal frame (right) holding the traffic lights is skewed dangerously in the direction of the pedestrian crossing and is likely to fall off if it is not fixed soon away, therefore danger looms.
It's merely a matter of time before the entire building, which is situated close to the Galilea Market in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, close to Kasoa on the Accra-Cape Coast road, collapses.
Worryingly, some of the signals are either relocated or not operating, resulting in pedestrians frequently fighting with automobiles for that stretch of road, making it even more difficult and dangerous for pedestrians to cross the dual-carriage highway.
Traffic lights are built in any functional city to, among other things, boost the traffic handling capacity of an intersection and improve the safety and efficiency of both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
They are also installed in key spots to regulate vehicular traffic flow and protect the lives of pedestrians and other road users. However, the current situation of the traffic light near this market appears to be undermining this purpose.
Because of the market, this site is extremely crowded. However, the current state of the traffic light endangers both automobiles and pedestrians. We are curious as to what the authorities in charge of monitoring these facilities are doing! This is an urgent plea for them to step up and fix the traffic signal in order to avoid any potential danger.
