The BBC has apologized for sexual noises that disrupted live broadcast of the FA Cup. On Tuesday, Gary Lineker presided over the third-round replay between Wolves and Liverpool. The football pundit afterwards uploaded an image of a mobile phone he said was "taped to the back of the stage".

"We sincerely apologize to any viewers who were upset during this evening's live coverage of football," the BBC added.

According to a BBC representative, the event is being investigated.

Lineker tried to shrug it off as he hosted the show in a studio at Wolverhampton's Molineux Stadium with experts Paul Ince and Danny Murphy.

"Somebody's sending something on someone's phone, I guess," he remarked as he cut to colleague and fellow former England striker Alan Shearer in the commentary gantry.

"I'm not sure if you heard it at home."

When the match started, he published a photo of a mobile phone on Twitter and three laughing emojis alongside the words: "Well, we found this taped to the back of the set.

"As far as sabotage goes, that was rather entertaining."

The incident was widely posted on social media on Tuesday evening, and it did not go missed by viewers. Daniel Jarvis, a YouTube prankster, claimed responsibility for the act, uploading a video on Twitter that looked to show him at Molineux.Last October, he received a suspended sentence after being convicted of aggravated trespass in connection with an incident in which he collided with England cricketer Jonny Bairstow after invading the Oval pitch in south London during a Test. He was also sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for two years, and barred from attending any athletic event in England or Wales for two years. He was also barred from traveling overseas for a year and ordered to participate in rehabilitation activities.
