Isla Bryson, a transgender rapist, was sentenced to eight years in prison at the high court in Edinburgh after being found guilty of raping two women while still a man. Bryson, 31, was convicted last month of raping two women: one in Clydebank in 2016 and another in Glasgow's Drumchapel in 2019. He engaged in both crimes while posing as a guy. After meeting both victims online, Bryson, 31, allegedly "preyed" on weak women, according to the prosecution. Lord Scott, the judge at the High Court in Glasgow, informed Bryson that the offenses were "serious" and that "a heavy sentence is inevitable" when the jury returned its guilty verdict. Bryson's initial housing in an all-female jail and subsequent relocation to a male estate in reaction to public criticism caused outrage in the case.
