On March 3, 2023, Rauf Addrisu, a member of the Ghana Police Service, is alleged to have died in a horrible car accident on the Accra-Kumasi highway. According to a police complaint, Rauf Addrisu (also known as Mando), a police dispatch rider, was hit by a Kia Grandbird VIP bus. Rauf Addrisu works for the dispatch rider branch of the police department. According to the investigation, the driver of the VIP bus failed to notice the traffic on the road, resulting in the accident and the victim's death on the spot.
"On March 3, 2023, at around 3:30 p.m., suspect driver Samuel Boateng, 44, was in command of a Kia Grandbird VIP bus with registration number GW 9944-10 carrying passengers from Kumasi to Accra.
"On approaching a part of the road near to the Osino Police station on the Accra-Kumasi route, he neglected to watch traffic ahead. In the process, collided with No. 49200 Rauf Addrisu from Headquarters Transport, who was riding Honda motorbike No. GP 4710 and led a convoy from Accra to Kumasi," according to the investigation. According to the investigation, the driver of the VIP bus failed to notice the traffic on the road, resulting in the accident and the victim's death on the spot.
