Humans occasionally have a propensity to forget and leave appliances plugged into the extension board. There may be a fire outbreak as a result, which could cause property damage. So, what happens if you can control your extension board from a distance?
That is what Alexander Osei Bonsu, Francis Akwasi Agyemang, and Obed Ansah, three students from the Computer Engineering Department at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), have done. One of them explained the innovation's motivation, saying,
"Most of the time, we leave our houses and sometimes we forget we’ve left our devices on the extension board and you can't come back."An app was created specifically for this purpose because the extension board is controlled by the internet. The sockets are controlled by four different relay models.A current sensor on this board lets you know how much energy is being used at any given time.Additionally, a fuse prevents current surges.
