The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has reported 12 additional cases of Lassa Fever in the country. Following contact tracing and testing of the two index cases announced on Sunday, February 26th, the additional cases were confirmed. "The total number of confirmed cases for this outbreak now stands at 14, according to a press release issued by the Service on Tuesday, February 28. One has been confirmed dead while the rest are said to be in a stable condition "and are being managed in designated health facilities". The Service also noted that about 97 contacts have been identified and "efforts are underway to identify more contacts". "A probable case has been reported from Central Region and contacts are being identified and monitored while we await confirmation. All cases and contacts are receiving psychological support." The Service reminded the public to avoid contact with rodents, practice good environmental hygiene, and take precautions such as storing grain and other foodstuffs in rodent-proof containers and avoiding contact with blood and bodily fluids while caring for sick people. It advised the public to go to the nearest health facility if they became ill. "We want to reassure the public that we will continue to work with our partners to ensure the public's safety."
