Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi has lashed out at ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas following the dismissal of the latter's defamation suit against Kennedy Agyapong.
Anas filed a GH25 million defamatory suit against Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central in the Central Region, in 2018, but the court ruled on Wednesday, March 15, that the suit was without merit. Justice Eric Baah ruled in a lengthy ruling that the plaintiff [Anas Aremeyaw Anas] failed to prove that Kennedy Agyapong defamed the investigative journalist by airing the documentary "Who watches the watchman?" Mr. Nyantakyi stated earlier today on Accra-based Oman FM that "the High Court's decision testifies to the truth that Anas Aremeyaw Anas is not honest.""In addition, the judge described his job as that of an investigative terrorist rather than an investigative journalist. He has completely disgraced himself. He used to portray himself as an angel, but I'm not sure he's even at the devil's level anymore."
In June 2018, a former member of Fifa's executive committee was filmed accepting $65,000 in cash from an undercover reporter in a video captured by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and aired by BBC Africa's investigative unit, Africa Eye. Nyantakyi was photographed putting "shopping money" into a black plastic bag from an undercover reporter posing as a businessman interested in investing in Ghanaian football. He later agreed to what he thought was a sponsorship deal for the Ghana Football Association.
