In what would have resulted in their deaths, two police officers in Sefwi Wiawso in the Western North Region who had been assigned to react to a church's distress call were reportedly saved on Saturday by an immigration officer. According to reports, a man who was assaulting worshipers at the Anglican Church in Sefwi Wiawso subdued the police officers. An inspector and corporal might have been killed by a violent attacker who is currently being held by the police if it weren't for the prompt action of AICOII Nurudeen Abul-Ganiew Takra, an immigration officer stationed at the Western North Regional Immigration Office.
The immigration officer reported to the office and was on his way home from town when he spotted some activity outside the Anglican Church Park close to the Wiawso District Police Stations, according to the Western Regional Immigration Service Commander ACI Augustus Acheampong. He approached the situation out of curiosity and found a police officer with the rank of Inspector lying unconscious on the ground and a corporal being attacked with an AK-47 rifle. The attacker struck the corporal in the head before he could approach, knocking him out. The assailant was inspired to try to pick up the weapon to cause further mayhem because both the officers were on the ground and bystanders were afraid to come too close, but Nurudeen was quicker to choose the AK 47.
"The attacker swung a pestle aggressively in the direction of Nurudeen. He fired a warning shot when he felt threatened, but the assailant did not back down. Instead, he continued to advance and even made an attempt to strike him with the pestle.
